ASTEROID Project

Installation: Intermediate state

An asteroid hovers above a reddish carpet. As if time has stopped, the asteroid is in a waiting position. Visitors can lie down under the shiny black cosmic object and reflect on their inner selves.

In a nighttime performance, Kosmo circles the object, dressed in a minimalist black catsuit. Thunder rumbles and birds can be heard. He examines the dark structure and lies down beneath it.

STUDIO

COLOGNE

The artist Ralf Kosmo is interested in physical phenomena of the universe and the quantum world.
With his artworks, he creates multiple connections that incorporate physical, mathematical, philosophical, mystical, and profane/worldly aspects.
The predominant triangular combinations draw the viewer's attention back to form. The eye takes in the materials, color frequencies, and notations. In some cases, the origin of individual fragments can be determined. The finely composed collages appear different again and again due to different angles, lighting, reflections, and luminescence. Kosmo often processes worthless materials such as packaging, plastic waste, but also many things from his immediate surroundings. He says it is a personal archive—a document of our times. He lives and works in Cologne, Germany.
